Two bolts physically lock the lid shut.
While the timer is running, a motor keeps two steel bolts engaged in the lid rails. They block the lid from lifting or sliding until the countdown reaches zero. Only then does the motor retract the bolts and let the lid open.

Why I built Gauge.
A handful of people close to me have been stuck on nicotine for years. Nothing dramatic — just the quiet, daily kind. Reaching for a Zyn without thinking. Saying they'll cut back next week.
What I kept hearing wasn't "I want to quit tomorrow." It was "I wish I actually knew how much I was using," and "I wish there was something between me and the tin when I'm stressed." So I started building that — first as a tracker, and now as a lockbox that enforces the interval.
Gauge isn't about shame or a big transformation pitch. It's a way to see what's going on and add the right amount of friction so you can move at a pace that works for you.
